Apple has once again introduced a device that is simply meant to be the leader in the smartphone industry – the iPhone 4. It has a completely new look and has more features than you would imagine, making me want to give up my rapid weight loss diet and go get one right now. The biggest additions on it are the new internal hardware specs, which are high enough to last more than a couple of years and the amazing 960×640 3.5 inch screen, which packs the pixels so dense, our eyes can’t differentiate them (Apple calls it the Retina Display)!

And with these new features,  I will be walking for weight loss,  I can say with 100% certainty that the iPhone 4 is the best multimedia device on the market, period. If more pharmacy technician certification people knew about it and if only its cost weren’t so high, it could have the potential to wipe the floor with any other portable media player and most portable gaming consoles out there, in addition to being one of the best smartphones. Success is creating what you want the way you want it to be.

It is, in fact, a journey. And, like all journeys, your ship will sail through calm waters and buck in storms. If you stay on course, continually upgrading your navigational instruments and adjusting to feedback, you will reach your port of dreams.

Everyone has had the experience of shipwreck. Their most cherished dreams collapsed despite their best efforts.

The difference between those who succeed in life and those who fail are neither the number of shipwrecks nor the severity of the storms. The difference is in their persistence. It takes persistence to complete the journey. Some people choose to build one ship after another until they reach their port of call. Others abandon the journey as soon as they run into a reef.

Success, then, is a process. It is an incessant refinement of strategy until something finally works.

Success starts with goal setting, and then goal setting is followed by action. Neither your goal setting theory nor your actions have to be perfect. A key to success is to start anywhere; over time, your vision will clear and your actions improve.

Here is a simple but effective strategy. 1. Begin where you are with what you have right now. 2. Notice what is working and what is not working. 3. Keep trying out new things until you have better results. 4. Keep on adding what works and discarding what does not work. 5. Arrive at your goal.

Another name for success is mastery. When you attain mastery over something you know what to do to get the results that you want. And you can repeat this method over and over again to ensure a stream of rewards.

Mastery is persistence over time. Those who profit from persistence appreciate ongoing self improvement and motivation. In fact, intrinsic motivation will allow you to do anything, overcome any obstacle, and surmount any hesitation. Furthermore, the more intense your motivation, the better your chances of success when you embark on any new enterprise.

In the Middle Ages, mastery of a profession was done through a guild. A person learned directly under a master. At first, he was an apprentice. Then, he became a journeyman. At last, he became a master in his own right.

Success is a continuous learning of strategy. This learning is both theoretical and practical. Eventually, when you do something long enough, you become very good at it. This process is accelerated when you follow someone who can guide you past common mistakes.

After you find a mentor, you have to stay consistent, refusing to get discouraged by challenges that will arise because of your lack of knowledge or resources.

Ideally, a mentor can be a person who is an expert. However, you can also attain mentorship through multimedia materials and educational associations. Every business success story is due to the presence of a mentor. And every other type of success can benefit from one too.

Wherever you are, begin the journey. We human beings are teleological. We need goals, a lofty ideal, and a compelling raison d’etre. Deny us meaning and we vegetate, feel empty, and even become self-destructive.

Success, ultimately, is about being fully YOU!

Ok so i finally did the Q7 review, love the large screen, makes it better for surfing the net and reading ebooks, but the player suffers as multimedia device. I think this makes for a good mobile internet device, especially instead of carrying a larger netbooks which has a lower battery life. However should not be used for video and audio playback. What is social media marketing?

The inspiration for this article lies in a fantastic slide presentation I saw fairly recently on slideshare.net. The presentation, aptly named “What the f*** is social media?” was put together by Marta Z Kagan.

Over 74 slides, one is just hit with fact after fascinating fact – initially about the reach and penetration of social media, and then how to converse with audiences. It’s truly inspiring stuff.

Wikipedia broadly defines social media as the use of electronic and Internet tools for the purpose of sharing and discussing information and experiences with other human beings. Kagan sums it up nicely saying “social media is people having conversations online”.

The mechanisms for these conversations include a number of mediums – some are communicative, others collaborative and others include multimedia or a combination of all three. Social media can take many forms, but one element that consistently sets all of its incarnations apart from “traditional” media, is that it is produced to be shared.

There’s more to social media than social networking sites. While extremely popular (Time magazine wrote in October 2007 that social networking sites are officially more popular than porn!), they are not the only way people connect online. Other media include wikis, microblogging (like twitter), blogs, social bookmarking (like del.icio.us and StumbleUpon), photo sharing (like Flickr), video sharing (like YouTube), pod casts and many others.

How big is this phenomenon really?

There are over two and a half million articles in English on Wikipedia. 75% of Americans watch at least one video online a month. YouTube alone has hundreds of millions of videos being viewed daily. There are over 200-million blogs on the internet. Just under 60% of the people online have joined a social network.

And these are just some of the staggering numbers that get thrown around. This just serves to prove just how powerful and wide the reach of social media is.

What’s the difference between social media and traditional media?

The main difference is that social media is not a monologue. It is a dialogue that the brand sometimes does not lead. People are talking online right now – and this is an aspect of social media marketing.

Research has shown that 90% of people who can skip television adverts do just that.

A 2007 Nielsen report entitled “Trust in Advertising” showed that people trust referrals from their friends and other customers far more implicitly than one-way company messaging. Fundamentally, people don’t care what a company or brand thinks, they care what their friends think.

So, how do you harness this?

The short answer is: subtly. You can’t always lead the conversations – and you need to be honest. Don’t bombard the audience with noise and marketing messages – they will just switch off, or you’ll be lost in the din – neither are optimal situations.

Create personas and communicate. You need to allow your customers to feel ownership of the brand. You need to enable, engage and inspire people. A flat one-sided message is not going to get anybody excited about a brand or product, and this is how to start a buzz.

There’s no real “trick” to social media marketing. What it comes down to essentially, is listening to your customers and participating with them.
